The Terrific Pixel is a small piece of code that you install on your online store. Once installed, it monitors key commerce actions taken by your shoppers: things like viewing a product page, adding an item to the cart, or completing a purchase, and sends that data to Terrific in real time.
This data powers the attribution model behind Session Reports and Store Reports: without the Pixel firing correctly, Terrific cannot reliably connect a live session viewer to a purchase made on your website, and your reports will show incomplete data.
In short: the Pixel is what closes the loop between your Terrific live shopping experience and actual sales on your store.
Where to find it?
In the left side menu, expand Analytics and click Terrific Pixel:
Pixel status
At the top of the page, a banner shows the overall connection status of your Pixel.
Three statuses are possible:
đ˘ Connected. The pixel is active and sending data. You'll see the timestamp of the last data update (date and time in CST). No action needed.
đĄ Check Connection. The pixel was previously installed but hasn't sent data in over 24 hours.
đ´ Disconnected. No pixel has been detected. The pixel has not been installed yet or was removed entirely. Follow the installation steps to get tracking up and running described here for Shopify stores and non Shopify users.
Event table
Below the status banner, a table lists every commerce event that Terrific tracks, along with its individual status and the last time it was received.
Events tracked by the Terrific Pixel
1. Page Viewed. Fires whenever a shopper loads any page on your store. This is the highest-frequency event and is used to verify that the Pixel is installed and running correctly across your site.
2. Product Viewed. Fires when a shopper views a specific product detail page. Used to understand product discovery and interest.
3. Product Added to Cart. Fires when a shopper adds an item to their cart. A critical signal for measuring intent and tracking funnel progression.
4. Product Removed from Cart. Fires when a shopper removes an item from their cart. Useful for understanding cart abandonment patterns.
5. Checkout Started. Fires when a shopper initiates the checkout flow. Marks the transition from browsing intent to purchase intent.
6. Checkout Complete. Fires when a purchase is successfully completed. This is the most important event for revenue attribution: without it, Terrific cannot attribute sales to your live sessions or carousels.
A healthy Pixel is the foundation for accurate attribution data. Once your status shows Connected, head to Store Reports to see how your sessions and carousels are performing in aggregate, or open Session Reports to review individual live events. If your status stays on Check Connection after re-installing the snippet, contact your Terrific account manager for a technical review.
