The Terrific Carousel allows you to add vertical video formats to your website to gamify the user experience, deliver a social media-like experience, and maximize your media and business performance.
Part 1 -Carousel Integration
The integration logic is similar to the pop-up or inline session; it’s done via the SDK 2.0 integration. (See related article)
After integrating this script into your website’s header, you’ll need to copy and paste the following script into the body of the page where you want to host the timeline.
Best Practices
Implement your timeline in the header of your homepage, right below your advertising banners.
By default, also implement your timeline on all product and content pages to maximize the visibility of your communications.
1. Add the SDK Script Tag in the <head>
Paste the following script tag inside the <head> section of your website. (This script must be at the end of the header)
<script defer src="https://terrific.live/terrific-sdk.js" storeId="YOUR_STORE_ID_HERE"></script>
Before pasting: Replace YOUR_STORE_ID_HERE with your actual Terrific store ID.
To find your Store ID:
Go to the Terrific Admin (Black interface)
Or ask your Customer Success Manager
2. Add the Timeline Block in the <body>
Paste the following script body inside the <body> section of the page where you want to display your timeline.
<div data-source="terrific" embedding-id="YOUR_TIMELINE_ID_HERE"></div>
Before pasting: Replace YOUR_TIMELINE_ID_HERE with the ID of the specific format you want to embed.
To find your Carousel Embedding ID:
Go to your Terrific platform
Click on Carousel > Manage Carousel
Click on the three dots in the top right corner, copy the ID, and paste it into the script.
Part 2 - Manage Carousels
Access the list of carousels
1. In the left-side menu, click Carousels.
2. You land on the Manage Carousels page.
3. On the relevant carousel, click the three dots (action menu).
In the action menu, you have the following options:
Copy Carousel ID: copies the carousel identifier (useful for technical integration).
Preview and Embed: displays a preview of the carousel as published + integration information.
Edit Carousel: access carousel settings and configuration.
Carousel report: access reporting (real-time analytics).
Delete Carousel: deletes the carousel.
4. Click Edit Carousel.
Tab 1 - Edit Carousel (General Settings)
This tab allows you to configure the carousel at a “global” level (name, display, style, redirects, social sync, advertising).
A) Basic Settings
Carousel name: internal name of your carousel.
Cover image: cover image associated with the carousel.
Language: carousel language.
Order type (carousel type): you have 2 possible modes:
Manual Carousel: you manually manage the order of assets via drag & drop.
Timeline Carousel: asset order is automatic, based on date/time (timestamps).
Smart Carousel: Algorithm orders assets based on visitor behavior and entry points. All tagged products are included in the Smart algorithm.
B) Behavior & Display
Auto-Play Carousel: triggers automatic scrolling of the cards.
Recommendation: 2–3 seconds.
Display Timestamp: whether you want to display timestamps on the cards or not.
Product Card Colors: change default colors for shoppable information inside assets.
Asset Background style (background around the cards):
None: no background (recommended in your case).
Color: colored background.
Image: image background (can be used for sponsorship/monetization use cases).
Timed: apply a different style depending on the publication time.
Polls background Style: set a default style or color for polls.
C) Redirect & Links
This section lets you redirect the user to a dedicated page when they click on the carousel.
Example:
The carousel is visible on the Home Page.
On click, the user accesses a vertical experience (timeline); the background and URL switch to a dedicated page.
When exiting the vertical experience, the user is redirected to the dedicated page, not the Home Page.
Benefit: it brings the user back directly to a page matching their interest, ensuring smoother, more consistent, and contextual navigation.
D) Social Media Sync
1. Click Add Account.
2. Enter the Instagram account username.
3. Check the confirmation box (“I confirm that I’m the rightful…”).
4. Set the following options:
Type of content: sync Reels, Posts, or both.
Country restrictions: use if your account has country restrictions.
Import Descriptions: automatically imports titles and descriptions of your Instagram reels and posts (time saver).
Add Hashtags: filters and imports only content containing certain hashtags (upstream filtering on Instagram).
5. Click Save.
Once syncing is active:
An Instagram logo appears on the carousel.
You can trigger a manual import via Run Social Imports (use sparingly; it generates internal requests on Terrific’s side).
Otherwise, an automatic sync runs every 6 hours.
E) Ad Integration
This section allows you to integrate Google Ads directly into the carousel to automate ad insertion.
This is an interesting option in a monetization setup.
Tab 2 - Carousel Preview and Embed
1. Click Carousel Preview and Embed.
2. You can see what the carousel currently looks like as published.
Depending on the carousel type:
Manual: you can reorder assets via drag & drop.
Timeline: card order is automatic based on publication date/time.
Quick actions from the preview:
Clicking a card opens its configuration directly.
You can delete a card via the icon in the top-right corner of the card.
You can also see in real time what your carousel will look like before it is published. This lets you double-check cards and visuals before they go live on your website.
Tab 3 - Assets Upload
Click Assets Upload to add content to your carousel from different sources:
A) Upload media from device
Upload content from your computer.
B) From Library
Add content from the Terrific library.
The library centralizes:
content already uploaded in your France TV space,
content from synchronized Instagram accounts,
assets coming from all your carousels.
Useful use case: if an asset was deleted by mistake from the preview, you can retrieve it via the library.
C) Engagement tools
Create polls.
After clicking, the poll appears in the asset list (at the bottom), and then must be configured for publishing.
Tab 4 - Assets Configuration
1. Click Assets Configuration.
2. Click the asset you want to configure.
1) Example: configuring a poll
A) General
Asset name: internal title for analytics purposes (e.g., “Poll - Which Winter Olympics sport do you prefer?”).
Poll question: question displayed to the community.
Poll options: possible answers (up to 4).
On the right, a preview lets you see the card rendering in real time.
Poll position: position of the poll module: top/middle / bottom. Useful if you need to keep space visible (e.g., partner logo in a sponsored campaign).
Add CTA Button: encourages the user to take a specific action by redirecting them to an external or internal page.
Button Text: button label.
URL: redirect link.
Recommendation: add CTAs whenever relevant to:
drive navigation to your website pages,
highlight a piece of content / a program,
strengthen interactivity (engagement logic).
Save: Click Save regularly.
B) Style
Customize the background (color or image).
2) Example: configuring a Video / Photo card
Click the Video / Photo asset you want to configure.
For video/photo assets, you’ll generally find 3 tabs:
A) General
Asset name: internal title.
Asset Title: audience-facing title (displayed in bold).
Asset description: audience-facing description (not bold).
Recommendation: keep texts short, clear, and catchy (cards aren’t designed for long descriptions).
The right-side preview helps, but the final rendering should ideally be validated in the live carousel.
Video Pixel Tracking URL: add a tracking pixel (partner/brand) linked to the asset.
Add CTA Button: same logic as polls: button + link to guide the audience.
B) Products (shoppable experience)
1. Click Products.
2. Fill in:
Product name: product name
Description: product description
Price: product price
Product URL: product page URL
Product image: product image
All this information will be visible to your users.
3. Click Add product to save.
4. Recommended position: bottom (at the bottom of the asset). In your setup, the shoppable module will be separated from the content and therefore configured by default.
C) Style
1. Show Brand Logo: add a partner logo above the title (useful for sponsorship).
2. Background style: card background color. In your case, prefer None (consistent with your guidelines).
Click Save after each action/change.
Part 3 - Assets Library
1. In the main menu, click Assets Library.
2. The Assets Library stores all imported content:
from synchronized Instagram accounts,
from the different carousels created,
from manual uploads.
3. Available filters:
content type (image/video/poll),
carousel,
Instagram account,
date.
4. Retrieving deleted assets
If an asset was accidentally deleted from the preview, the library lets you find and restore the content.
The whole Customer Success team remains available to support you in configuring and optimizing your carousels.
