The Terrific Timeline allows you to add vertical video formats to your website to gamify the user experience, deliver a social media-like experience, and maximize your media and business performance.
1. Timeline Integration
The integration logic is similar to the pop-up or inline session; it’s done via the SDK 2.0 integration. (See related article)
After integrating this script into your website’s header, you’ll need to copy and paste the following script into the body of the page where you want to host the timeline.
Best Practices
Implement your timeline in the header of your homepage, right below your advertising banners.
By default, also implement your timeline on all product and content pages to maximize the visibility of your communications.
1. Add the SDK Script Tag in the <head>
Paste the following script tag inside the <head> section of your website. (This script must be at the end of the header)
<script defer src="https://terrific.live/terrific-sdk.js" storeId="YOUR_STORE_ID_HERE"></script>
Before pasting: Replace YOUR_STORE_ID_HERE with your actual Terrific store ID.
To find your Store ID:
Go to the Terrific Admin (Black interface)
Or ask your Customer Success Manager
2. Add the Timeline Block in the <body>
Paste the following script body inside the <body> section of the page where you want to display your timeline.
<div data-source="terrific" embedding-id="YOUR_TIMELINE_ID_HERE"></div>
Before pasting: Replace YOUR_TIMELINE_ID_HERE with the ID of the specific format you want to embed.
To find your Timeline Embedding ID:
Go to your Terrific platform
Click on Timelines> Manage Timelines
Click on the three dots in the top right corner, copy the ID, and paste it into the script.
2. How to upload Assets in the Timeline
2.1 Click "Assets Library"
In the menu, you can also filter your assets by type (video, photo, polls), by timeline (if you have several), by time of day (morning, afternoon, evening, night), or by date.
2.2 Click "Upload Asset"
2.3 Define which type of asset you want to upload (Image, Video, or Poll).
2.3 Fill in all the required information, and don’t forget to connect the timeline to your new asset.
2.4 You can also include products to create a shoppable video experience.
2.5 You can also add a call-to-action button linking to an external page (URL), and customize it with a dedicated title.
2.6 You can also add a brand logo in the card to highlight a specific brand.
2.7 You can choose the background of your card, either by customizing colors to match your brand guidelines or simply by adding a background image.
2.8 You can do the same with a video format…
2.9 …and with a Polls format.
3. Add the Social Import module
Automatically bring your Instagram Reels into your Timelines, no manual upload needed.
How to set it up
3.1 In Black Admin → Feature Flags, enable Social Imports. (or ask your Customer Success Manager)
3.2 Open your Timeline and click Edit Timeline.
3.3 Toggle Enable Social Import.
3.4 Paste your Instagram account URL — e.g. https://www.instagram.com/Otsosport
3.5 Add up to 10 hashtags to filter imported reels. Example: #timeline
This field is optional.
If you don’t enter any hashtags, all Reels will automatically be fetched from the connected Instagram account.
3.6 Save changes
3.7 The imported Reels will appear automatically in your Timeline library, identified by a small Instagram icon.
A daily automatic import job will soon refresh your content automatically.
4. Add the Dynamic Ads module
This feature lets store owners insert ad slides into their timelines at a chosen cadence.
How to set it up
4.1 In Black Admin → Feature Flags, enable Timeline Ads. (or ask your Customer Success Manager)
4.2 Enable Dynamic Ads directly from Edit Timeline
4.3 Configure how often ads appear (e.g., every 5 slides) and adjust their placement settings.
4.4 Use either a secure URL or custom HTML code.
4.5 Click "Preview Ad"
4.6 Your Google Ad Manager tags should appear.
4.7 Click "Save"
